We Can Still All Be Free
There's all this pressure and hysteria attached with approaching the mid-twenties. Like having a sense of direction and a general idea of your "purpose". People I grew up with are beginning to have real jobs, like being playboy bunnies and stylists and working in offices...kay, never mind. But at least they know what they want. Meanwhile I'm still um, waiting tables and all I know what I want is a car. Not even a fancy car, just some shitbox that can take me places. And I know that I want to see lots of places. And have adventures. And before I started worrying about "becoming an adult" I had all that. And I was having the time of my life. So then I went through all these old photographs of when I was care free and realized that well, my life has been pretty awesome so far and it's time to stop caring about what people are telling me to care about. Just live my life and stop worrying about useless shit like how the hell am I ever going to buy a house and have babies and a have husband and be a driven career woman going absolutely fucking insane because that shit is so unrealistic and I don't even think that's what I want but am expected to want.
So here's to all the dreamers, under-achievers and believers!

Boyfriend
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y40TsOIpuEU
So I heard this song at work yesterday and it's been stuck in my head ever since and I'm in a kurfuffle over how I feel about it. I mean I like it but I don't, if yaknowhatimean. It's called "boyfriend" by the band Best Coast. First of all, I don't like the band's name but that's a personal issue I feel about the term not the band's (can you tell that I'm a die-hard east coaster?) I mean, I LOVE the west coast too but I think that I should go into detail about this subject some other time. Back to the song. I love the dream-like nostalgic quality of it but I don't like getting depressed when I listen to music and I'm not going to lie, I got a little depressed. Maybe it's because the only person that wants to be my boyfriend right now is a 50 year old toothless stand-up bass player that lives above the bar and gets drunk all day (winner), he even... *gasp in horror*... wrote a song about me. Don't want to think about that right now.
Okay, never mind, the more I listen to this song the more I like it, the best coast song NOT the toothless bass player's song. Best Coast is going to be playing Toronto this Saturday so I just might drop on by.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnddd as usual, with a song I've attached a photograph (courtesy of moi) that I feel goes well with the song. I took this a few years ago with my then-boyfriend. I know these types of shots can be cheesy but for some reason I REALLY like how this one turned out.

King Night
running down the stairs |
So I think it's safe to say that summer is over, and when summer is over we all know what that means...HALLOWEEN!!! Well, i shouldn't think that far ahead but i really can't help it. I was meaning to post this track that i found on Halloween because I think it suits the holiday the same way a fat kid suits cake. Yet knowing myself I'll probably get distracted, bored or simply just forget about it and start thinking about something completely different. Hence, (what a strange word) I've decided to post this photo I took and the track up right now in honour of the most fun holiday of the year and maybe some of you can get inspired and start thinking of get-ups a little earlier. And please, no slutty witch or vampire or mouse or a goddam cat because that shit is just SO lame. But if you REALLY want to dress in a slutty costume then why don't you be a sexy trout or donkey or something at least.
The track is by Salem and it's called King Night. I don't know how to post it with the video yet, i'll ask someone tech savvy soon, but for now you guys are going to have to deal with the Youtube links, ALRIGHT.

Day Man vs. Night Man |
I'm not done yet.
Soooooooooooooooooo just to rave about this show a little more, I found on Youtube an out of this world remix that this guy put up of the "Dayman" song from the show. But you won't know about the Dayman song unless you actually watch the show. So watch the show, listen to this remix, and thank me later for enlightening you.
Have fun!
